Calcium chloride, a salt consisting of chlorine and calcium, has the chemical formula CaCl2. Slightly bitter, tasteless. It is a typical Ionic halide and is white, hard fragment or particle at room temperature. Common applications include salt water, road ice melting agents and desiccant for refrigeration equipment.
Colorless cubic crystal, white or grayish white, granular, Honeycomb block, spherical, irregular granular, powder. Subtoxic, odorless, slightly bitter taste. Hygroscopicity is extremely strong and it is easy to deliquescent when exposed to air. Soluble in water, while releasing a large amount of heat(the dissolved enthalpy of calcium chloride is -176.2 cal/g), its aqueous solution is slightly acidic. Soluble in alcohol, acetone, acetic acid.
